AISI 4145H MOD

ASTM A-29, API 7-1, API 14A

GENERAL SCOPE:

AISI 4145 is a common low-alloy steel with 0.20% molybdenum, widely used in the oil industry. It's similar to 4140 but has better hardenability, making it popular for higher strength requirements. Larger diameters are often supplied with higher molybdenum level, 0.35% max, this may also be used on higher strength variants at smaller diameters. This steel is widely used in making drill collars.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

As compared to 4140, the 4145 mod grade has higher levels of Chromium and Molybdenum, which will provide much deeper hardening into the steel after austentizing, quenching and tempering.

This alloy should not be confused with AISI 4145, as the chemical limits for the modified version are much higher.
